    Book Heroes works with publishers and distributors to rescue
    books that would be otherwise left unread. Surplus stocks of books mean some are left unread and unloved, especially those with little imperfections.

  • 2. Make SAVINGS

    All our books are new. They are surplus stocks that have found themselves without a home that you can rescue with some serious savings!

    Check out our Bumped & Bruised Books for really super savings! These books find it harder to find a home with their superficial imperfections to their covers.

  • 3. Do Good

    Your purchase can make a big difference.

    Reading enriches lives and with 1 in 15 children and young people in the UK aged 8-18 not owning a book of their own,* we will donate books to community projects and charities across the UK to inspire children to take on a reading adventure.

Why are there surplus stocks?

The competing nature of the book industry means there are thousands of new children's book titles published each year all vying for our attention. Book publishers can overestimate the demand for certain books which leads to an excess of unsold copies especially as they make way for new titles. We disrupt the traditional patterns of book disposal and reduce waste in the publishing industry.

Bumped & Bruised Books

Most books returned are in perfect condition but some are bumped and bruised along the way from being handled and packed in and out of boxes. The imperfections are superficial - a crease, a scratch, a small tear, a folded page. These books are perfectly imperfect. The magic of the story is untouched and after being thumbed and read by curious little children you won't even notice.
